Trout-in-the-Classroom Underway for 2009-2010
The success of the TIC program can be attributed to the combined effort of several organizations and many individuals dedicated to the environment. During the early part of the year and ongoing into the Summer and Fall months, Jessica Griglak, NJ Division of Fish and Wildlife, Resource Interpretive Specialist, was working on gathering new schools for the TIC Program.

This great news just in from Beth Styler Barry, Executive Director of the Musconetcong Watershed Association, a partner with NJTU working together on watershed issues related to the Musconetcong River and its watershed:

"Last night, the Warren County Board of Chosen Freeholders voted to fund a portion of the acquisition (along with NJ DEP Green Acres and Farmland Preservation (SADC) and New Jersey Audubon Society) of a 350 acre property in Warren County.

Following is part of a demonstration given to 8 - 14 year old at the Conservation Day Forest Resource Education Center, Jackson NJ, head waters of the Toms River

 What is Trout Water?

 A word we hear often is "Pollution" but this has several meaning depending on your view.   As Trout Unlimited is the champion of Cold Water Conservation, and takes stream protection for trout as key,  I felt that a discussion on what makes good water for trout would fit right in the Conservation Day theme.

The Toms River Trout Unlimited Chapter, now out of business, conducted an electro fishing survey in September 1991 at four stations on the Toms River, about 5 months after the spring stocking.
